Holistic word etymologically means that all parts are interconnected and each part can be explained in connection with the whole. Every part carries the qualities of the whole and that’s why each part becomes important. The holistic movement of the world is in the right direction because it is actually trying to find out the fundamental unity in everything that we see and perceive. After attending a host of holistic events in North America, I am happy to see so many different cultures uniting for the cause of unity inspite and despite of apparent diversity. This is the unique calling of the holistic world. When we combine the material facts of history, culture, language and spirituality with the innate desire of holistic movement then we build a community that will be resilient enough to answer questions to our future generations. There were many theories of holistic proportions that have made today’s holistic movements in the abrahamic societies. Gaia movement, ancient religions of the abrahamic societies, ancient philosophies in the abrahamic societies and ancient lifestyles in the abrahamic societies make the holistic movements more complete.

The addition of the Yoga philosophy, mantras and Vedic lifestyles to the prevalent holistic movements have added an additional strength.

Now, there is a foundational strength which cannot be challenged by belief based cultures & religions. The primordial unity in the holistic society is built on the concept of universal consciousness. Earth being the divine mother of all creates a welcoming and sincere atmosphere for all types of cultures. No one can deny their gratitude to Mother Earth. She nourishes all without any discrimination. The air, Sun, Moon and Wind provide sustenance to all without any discrimination. The sustenance of living beings on this planet is a concomitant outcome of cooperation between all elements of nature. This fact cannot be ignored even by the most erudite scientists. There is an innate mutual dependence and also mutual embrace by all elements of nature. No human can say that they created these sources of life which we call nature. No scientist can even dream of replicating them at the scale that all elements of nature perform. Since we can’t create, we have to acknowledge and appreciate.

Many concepts of longevity of our bodies have been lost due to corporatization of our lifestyles.

Holistic movement is just trying to help us highlight those simple considerations which everyone appreciates within their hearts. Living in nature, living with nature, creating a harmony between us and nature, creating a breathing space for all living beings, living a life of contentment and leaving a better planet for our future generations. Every human irrespective of their belief system will agree with what I wrote in the last line. If they do, then they also logically surmise that inherently everyone wants a holistic lifestyle. But most can’t say it due to pressures of organized religions, organized government structures and also the needs of corporate industry. The aspirations of a harmonious society are often destroyed by the modern businesses of the society. For a sustainable environment all aspects of the society need to be sustainable. If one part is not sustainable then the other part automatically becomes unsustainable. The ripple effect principle proves that.

That’s why there is a need for ‘Balanced’ holistic movement where a gradual movement towards a completely holistic society is initiated.

Anything done in extreme is unholistic in the first place. Excessive focus on innovation in products has created things that have reduced human potential. Excessive focus on innovation in services has created a human which has less capability for self sustenance. Excessive focus on innovation in information availability has reduced human potential to think. Even innovation needs to be driven towards a holistic experience. What will happen if the current lifestyles are immediately curtailed through nature? Chaos. What happens if society embraces a balanced holistic movement towards nature? Harmony. The natural question is – Where do we begin? The current society that we see today came from a gradual movement from holistic lifestyle to current corporate driven lifestyle. Organized religions played a big role in that. Organized religions first broke the family, then they disconnected people from their natural culture & religions and then the rebels introduced science to break people away from those organized religions themselves. Now science is helping us to reconnect ourselves from our own culture and history from where we originally came from. That’s why most organized religions do not appreciate science while using the benefits of science.

In actuality, holistic movements bring the original science back to us.

We all become happy when our children work in our gardens to produce food. We all become happy when we are in our gardens together with our families. We all become happy in the Sun, watching the Full moon, watching the magic of the night sky, walking on the beach with loved ones and enjoying fresh air on the mountains. That is a holistic lifestyle. We don’t need any medicine or therapy in that lifestyle. Working in the fields gives us exercise and also a scientific mindset through observation. It creates a natural inquisitiveness to appreciate the cause & effect. Watching sunrise and sunset fills us with philosophical quests for answers and the purpose of our life. Watching a full moon fills us with the wonder of beauty. Walking in the forest makes us appreciate the animals, birds and trees that make our lives comfortable.

We often need a break from our corporatized lifestyles to regain ourselves. Why?

Because our soul cannot connect with artificiality. Social systems often negate the primordial importance of the soul. For ‘Balanced’ holistic lifestyle it is the most important aspect first is to recognize the importance of soul and its needs. The needs of the soul vary from person to person because of their past karma but the sources of enjoyment remain the same. The second step is to gradually decrease our needs for social validation coming from organized religions, peers and also education systems. The third step would be to decrease the expectations of happiness coming from propaganda machines. The fourth step is to increase our expectations from experience based knowledge systems. The fifth step would be to live to fulfill the needs of our soul. Holistic lifestyle should make us the most knowledgeable person, beautiful, harmonious, attractive and a sensible individual which appeals to the sensitivities and aspirations of everyone around us. That’s the balanced holistic lifestyle. Ancient knowledge systems in every society help us live that lifestyle suitable for that land.
